Profundity is not for its own sake, but to be more persuasive or influential.

A profound mind is open and deep, able to apply multiple thinking processes in dealing with varying situations wisely. People misunderstand or misjudge each other because of mis-perceptual bias, knowledge deficiency, lack of in-depth understanding. It creates varying problems even though their intentions are to solve problems.

It is the responsibility of each individual to examine themselves and to make sure they are open to true understanding: Too often assumptions and prejudices get in the way of in-depth understanding. It is the responsibility of each individual to examine themselves and deepen their understanding of people or things thoroughly. So being profound is not just about knowing, but in-depth understanding; requiring a person’s ability to comprehend information, grasp quintessence and abstract wisdom. It could come through deep observations -seeing underneath obvious or looking around the corner.

It is the pyramid of knowledge-understanding-insight-wisdom you need to climb for gaining in-depth understanding: Knowledge is concrete, and insight is contextual. To seek out knowledge, gain in-depth understanding, address ignorance or assumptions you make to minimize it. Insight is an understanding of cause and effect based on relationships and behaviors within a model, context, or scenario. Wisdom comes from making mistakes and learning from them; consists of having experience and yet knowing when to discard that experience, when you come across new knowledge, generate unique insight and gain more enriched experience.

It is the paradoxical logic that helps us understand interdependence, listen to two sides of stories, and strike the right balance: Paradoxical logic stimulates creative intelligence. Business leaders or professionals with high paradoxical intelligence can keep the state of balance: confidence vs. humility; intuition vs. analysis, optimism and caution, etc. They are able to see things from different angles, understand situations insightfully, see the two sides of the same coin holistically,

So overall speaking, being profound means objective perception, in-depth understanding, paradoxical logic, being able to clarify the sequence and consequence of the situations or scenarios comprehensively. Profundity is important to connect the minds and unify the differences, enforce thinking-communicating, acting consistency. Profundity is not for its own sake, but for connecting the mind or unifying the difference.
