As we’re winding down till the end of summer, the beginning of the school
year, and the start of the very busy Q4/budgeting season, I thought to take
a break from writing.
But not learning! I hope you’ll spend time this week catching up
on some reading and viewing, including my latest video and my top 2022 posts (so far) that I share below.
Introducing the Digital Trailblazer Author Interview Series
For those of you reading my new book,
Digital Trailblazer, find the URLs at the end of each chapter to get access to the Digital
Trailblazer Community. Once you access it, you’ll see checklists, templates,
chapter-specific content, and access to my special events where you can
continue your learning experiences.
Below is the first of a 10+ part video series of interviews conducted by
StarCIO’s Chief Feedback Officer and Digital Trailblazer’s editor, Ginny
Hamilton. You can get access to more of these videos in the Digital
Trailblazer Community, and I’ll slowly be releasing a subset of them on the
Driving Digital Standup channel.
Each video is about 10 minutes long, and Ginny asks me some tough questions
about the chapter. In chapter 1, I bring readers on the journey from bug
fixing to board meetings. Here’s Ginny asking me about why I started the
chapter with an f-bomb, and how to prepare for your first presentation to
the Board of Directors.

My Top 2021 Books for Devoted Leaders, CIOs, Innovators, and Foodies
– For the third year in a row, I shared my favorite books (and Audibles)
covering business, technology, and other topics that interest me. These
are always top posts on the blog, and I hope you’ll review them for some
inspiration. -
What is Digital Transformation 2.0 and Boosting Promising Strategies – I share the backdrop to keynotes that I delivered at the end of
2021 and into 2022. “Here we are in 2022 (and now going into 2023), and my
question to every leader is, how did you redefine your digital
transformation visions?” -
3 Practical Ways to Become a Citizen Data Scientist and Learn Machine
Learning – I am thrilled to see this post at the top of the list because
citizen data science and proactive data governance are topics I have been
writing and speaking about for at least eight years. You’ll read my
stories of launching these programs in Chapter 7 of Digital Trailblazer,
and my company has a
center of excellence
program if you need help getting once started. -
How Agile Delivery Managers Collaborate with Product Managers and Drive
DevOps Standards – The response to this post and its corresponding Driving Digital
Standup video caught me by surprise, as it surpassed my other writing and
videos on the agile responsibilities of tech leads, product owners,
program managers, and scrum masters. This post highlights the
collaboration and conflicts between delivery and product managers on
meeting business objectives, creating delightful end-user experiences, and
addressing technical debt. -
Why I Wrote Digital Trailblazer: A Leadership Guide on Digital
Transformation – “My why is helping people have those aha moments.” I wrote this
post back in March 2022, two months after finalizing the manuscript and
several months before publishing. Since then, many readers have shared
their “aha moments” with me, and I hope you will join the group.
Happy reading, beaching, barbecuing, and spending time with family and
friends.
