The value can be amplified by a new level of collective learning and intelligence to build professional capabilities and improve organizational long term competency.
The pervasive information age and knowledge economy requires the balance of “old experience” and “new ways to do things.” Digital technologies bring unprecedented convenience to learn and work flexibly, learning occurs through the processes to solve problems, the activities we spend on absorbing information and digesting knowledge; the experience of failing, etc.
Be open to keep expanding your thinking box by breaking down outdated concepts & moving out of the comfort zone: Information grows exponentially; knowledge is outdated sooner than what you thought of. People with strong cognitive abilities are able to put aside the old thinking box, fill in the updated knowledge, keep expanding their cognitive threshold via learning, thinking, & understanding challenge conventional thoughts to fill out blind spots, be willingness to accept feedback, practice critical reasoning skills to identify crucial issues, spur creative insight for generating fresh ideas all the time.
Be flexible to learn from different people, through diverse channels and gain enriched life/career experience: The best way to go on discovering who we are and what we are capable of doing is by following our insights, intuitions, and imagination, learning continually, experiment with different ways to do things while at the same time keeping our feet firmly on the ground. There is invaluable education or experience, but don’t make education or experience as the burden to stop you from learning new things, thinking differently. The tough part is that often the mindset of the older generation is perhaps more rigid, their “know it all” attitude might stop them from learning new knowledge and adapting to change promptly. The traditional way for gaining knowledge via formal education only is often outdated, knowledge professionals need to keep updating their knowledge to solve emerging problems effectively by enforcing an iterative learning-doing-learning continuum.
It’s complimentary to collectivism which encourages personalized learning, learning from each other, collaborative learning: Learning becomes more informal, personalized, and interactive; learning is not for its own sake, but to generate fresh insight for solving problems and producing values. The advanced technological based tools make learning more fun and faster. Individually, learning is embedded into our life habits. Collective learning competency is the foundation to develop unique business competency including innovation. It is the management with knowledge as a focus, involving the use of technologies and processes with the aim of improving learning agility, optimizing the value that is generated, with the goal to improve the organization’s collective learning competency.
New technologies and social media platforms are driving an unprecedented reorganization of how we learn, produce and create value. Learning is situational, personalized, learning styles can be rationalized and diverse. Learning, innovation, and improvement will come from all of the workforces, not just the chosen few who believe they have all the answers. The value can be amplified by a new level of collective learning and intelligence to build professional capabilities and improve organizational long term competency.
