Leadership is one’s ability to paint a vivid picture, a vision of a future state, an inspiration to make influence proactively, and motivate others to achieve it.
Leadership is about directions and changes. The style of leadership may vary; the manifestation of leadership has different formulas; but the leadership essential is the same, inspiring, influencing and empowering.
Leadership is to bridge, not to divide; leadership is to inspire, not to control; leadership is to move forward, not backward. Inspirational leadership shapes a high-level view; involves a bigger perspective and a longer range view to make deep influence and drive transformative change smoothly.
If apathy is sort of emotional inertia; sympathy is an emotional attachment, and empathy is an emotional intelligence. Inspiration is a key component of internal “driver.” Inspirational leaders propel people to achieve the “art of possible” by moving from apathy to sympathy to empathy. When people receive sympathy, they might feel emotional connection; when they receive empathy, they truly feel heard and inspired to make changes they would like to see in the world.
Inspirational leadership is insight-based; without insight, there’s no significant progress can be made: Insightful leaders are good listeners, indefatigable learners, ask thought-provoking questions, to fix root causes of problems smoothly. They are capable of amplifying voices from noise; capturing insight from knowledge; pulling past, present, and future together to dig into humanity and pursue universal wisdom collaboratively.
Insight and inspiration are mutually reinforced with each other. As insightful leader is like a valley, with nature depth of his/her view and profundity of his/her perception. So they can inspire their followers by understanding their circumstances; motivate them to take actions and make significant progress to benefit themselves and their surroundings. An inspirational leader has a right combination of great altitude, attitude, and aptitude, advocates change, encourages growth mindset, and creativity.
Inspirational leadership is the glue to make talent, ideas hard work to become reality and make all that count: Inspiration is a notch up from motivation because it’s the urge to do something significantly different whole-heartedly! We are at the most creative status when we get inspired. Inspirational leaders make an influence on building an innovative and inclusive culture, spot innovators, change agents, build a compelling team in which all members complement each other’s expertise to solve problems creatively.
There are things you can do to increase the likelihood of inspiration occurring. Inspirational leadership could become a “wow factor” for gluing up all critical success factors for unlocking collective potential; and pulling all the great things inside people such as intellectual curiosity, creativity, confidence, in developing great talent.
